Learn how to create QR codes for assets and use them to quickly start inspections.

What you'll need

- A Scan2Evolve account with inspector or admin role - An asset with a QR code (or access to create one) - Camera access on your device (for scanning) - (Optional) Printer for printing QR code labels

Printing QR code labels

Web app

Step 1: Navigate to asset - Click Assets in the navigation menu - Go to /admin/assets - Click on an asset to view details

Step 2: Access QR code - Click on the asset - Go to QR Code tab - Or go to /assets/[assetId]/qr-label

Step 3: Print QR code label - Click Print QR Code Label button - QR code label is generated - Print the label - Attach label to asset

Example:

1. Go to "Assets" page
2. Click on asset "Pump-001"
3. Go to "QR Code" tab
4. Click "Print QR Code Label" button
5. QR code label is generated
6. Print label on sticker paper
7. Attach label to pump

Mobile app

Step 1: Open asset - Tap Assets in the navigation menu - Tap on an asset to view details - Go to QR Code tab

Step 2: Print QR code label - Tap Print QR Code Label button - QR code label is generated - Print the label or save as image - Attach label to asset

Scanning QR codes to start inspections

Web app

Step 1: Open QR scanner - Go to Start Inspection page - Click Scan QR Code button - Allow camera access when prompted

Step 2: Scan QR code - Point your camera at the asset's QR code - Hold steady until QR code is recognized - Asset information loads automatically

Step 3: Start inspection - Inspection form opens for the scanned asset - Fill out inspection questions - Complete and submit inspection

1. Go to "Start Inspection" page
2. Click "Scan QR Code" button
3. Allow camera access
4. Point camera at QR code on pump
5. QR code is scanned automatically
6. Asset "Pump-001" is loaded
7. Inspection form opens

Step 1: Scan QR code with phone camera - Open your phone's camera app - Point camera at the asset's QR code - Tap on the QR code notification - Browser opens with QR code URL

Step 2: Asset page loads - Asset information is displayed - Available inspection templates are shown - Click on a template to start inspection

Troubleshooting QR code scanning

QR code not scanned

Problem: QR code is not being recognized

Solutions: - Ensure good lighting - Clean QR code label - Move closer or farther from QR code - Try different angle - Check QR code is not damaged

Camera access denied

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a QR code for an asset?

Go to the asset details page, click on the QR Code tab, and click "Print QR Code Label" button. The QR code is generated automatically for each asset.

Can I use the same QR code for multiple assets?

No, each asset has a unique QR code. QR codes are automatically generated when assets are created.

What happens if I scan a QR code that doesn't exist?

You will see an error message "Asset not found". Contact your administrator if you believe the asset should exist.

Can I scan QR codes offline?

QR code scanning requires an internet connection to load asset information. However, you can start an inspection offline after scanning the QR code (if the asset information is cached).

How do I print QR code labels?

Go to the asset details page, click on the QR Code tab, and click "Print QR Code Label" button. Print the label and attach it to the asset.

What size should QR code labels be?

QR code labels should be at least 2x2 inches for easy scanning. Larger labels are easier to scan from a distance.

Can I customize QR code labels?

QR code labels include the asset name and QR code. Customization options may be available through your administrator.
